If I could take a vacation anywhere I wanted, it would be to Florianopolis, a subtropical island in south Brazil. I’ve traveled all over the world, mostly to tropical areas, and with everything considered, Florianopolis is, by far, my favorite vacation destination in the world.

You can learn a lot of the Battlefield: Battlefield Travel

August 15th, 2008 · No Comments

.

Lots of men died in the campaign for the Dardanelles, but there is
still something quite special to an Australian about having a relative
at Gallipoli. It’s supposedly the battle that proved our national
mettle and is spoken about annually in hushed tones, a story to sum up
all the other stories of the first and second world wars. Even if
you’ve had no family blood mixed into the soil of the Turkish
peninsular it’s still a place for a young Australian to pilgrimage, but
for me visiting the site was somehow a way of honouring Bert and his
story. It’s virtually impossible to find out anything about particular
soldiers unless they were mentioned in dispatches but you can find out
a lot about what it was like on those narrow beaches and on those
cliffs from the , in one of
these cemeteries next to a gravesite bearing the same name as your own.

Cape Town in South Africa has up until recently always been “the” destination to go to if you wanted to go to Africa and enjoy the beach as well as all the other great things that only this great continent has to offer. All About Shells

March 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

We moved to Florida when I was only 5, many, many years ago, before it became wall to wall houses, condos and shopping centers. But, about the seashells, moving there from Pennsylvania, the beach appeared to be a wondrous thing, and my parents took us there at least once a week, normally more often that that. At first we would take a few seashells home, but they were in such abundance that eventually we just walked by them, or picked them up, admired them and put them down. During the winter months, you would see tourists, who really knew nothing about seashells, combing the beaches for their bag of shells to take home to the frozen north, so they could remember their sunny vacation in Florida. Looking back all those years, I wish I had spent a few minutes each time we went to the beach to find only 1 or 2 of the best shells to save, but I didn’t.
